Wheelchair Taxi Melbourne provides home pick up and drop off to the exact destination. Our drivers use Google GPS to take the customers to their destination in the most efficient and quick way.

Home pickup for a wheelchair user needs more thought than a standard taxi call. Our drivers know this and plan for it before they leave the depot. When you book, tell us whether you use a manual or powered wheelchair or scooter, roughly how much it weighs, and whether anyone will be helping you at the door. That single detail changes how the driver parks and which side of the vehicle the ramp comes down on.

On arrival, the driver checks the driveway or footpath for a clear, flat run for the ramp. Steep driveways, gravel, and narrow gates can all affect where the vehicle needs to stop, so if your access is tricky it helps to mention it when you book rather than leaving the driver to work it out on the day. We’d rather ask a question upfront than waste your time at the door.

Have your door unlocked or someone ready to let the driver know you’re on your way out, especially if it takes you a few extra minutes to get to the vehicle. Every booking comes with a 15 minute wait allowance at both pickup and drop off, so there’s no pressure to rush down the driveway the second the car pulls up.

Once you’re secured in the vehicle, the wheelchair is locked down with restraints rated for transport, not just tie-downs improvised on the day. The driver checks the restraints before moving off and again if there’s a long drive ahead. From there we use GPS routing to get you to the exact address, not just the nearest main road, which matters more than it sounds when the destination is a hospital, a specialist clinic, or a house with a driveway around the back.

We cover home pickups across Melbourne CBD, Berwick, Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Hampton Park, Endeavour Hills, Hallam, Doveton, Beaconsfield, Clyde, Botanic Ridge, Devon Meadows, Pearcedale, Tooradin, Lynbrook, Lyndhurst, Junction Village, Clayton South, Eumemmerring, Harkaway, and Melton. If you’re travelling under the NDIS or the Multi Purpose Taxi Program, our drivers are familiar with both, and you can read more on our NDIS transport and Multi Purpose Taxi Program pages.

Call 0432 712 248 or email wheelchairtaximelbourne@gmail.com to book a home pickup, and let us know your access details when you do. It saves time for everyone on the day.
