NDIS Transport Melbourne

NDIS transport Melbourne - wheelchair accessible vehicle

NDIS transport covers trips paid for out of a participant’s own transport funding rather than out of pocket. We carry NDIS participants who self-manage or plan-manage their funding, in vehicles fitted with a ramp or hoist and drivers trained to assist passengers with mobility needs.

Whether you self-manage or use a plan manager, booking works the same way as any other trip. You call or book online, tell us what equipment is travelling, and we send an accessible vehicle.

Self-managed participants pay us directly and keep the receipt for their own records. Plan-managed participants can have their plan manager handle invoicing, provided that is arranged when the trip is booked. See the NDIS guide to managing your plan for the difference between self-management and plan management.

Self-managed versus plan-managed funding

Self-managed participants have more say over which provider they use and can book with us directly, the same way anyone else would. Plan-managed participants use a plan manager to pay providers on their behalf, so we can invoice the plan manager instead of the passenger if that is set up in advance.

Either way, we do not need to see a copy of your plan before a trip. If your plan manager has questions about an invoice, they can contact us directly.

What an NDIS transport booking looks like

You give us the passenger’s name, a contact number, the pickup and destination, and what equipment is travelling: a manual chair, a powered chair, or a scooter. That decides which vehicle we send.

The driver allows 15 minutes of wait time at pickup and again at drop-off, sets the ramp or hoist up before the passenger moves, and secures the chair inside for the trip. Nobody is lifted out of their chair unless they would rather transfer to a seat.

For a support worker or family member booking on someone’s behalf, the same details apply: name, contact number, and equipment. Regular appointments are easier to set up as a standing booking so the details stay on file.

Where we operate

We run NDIS transport across Melbourne and the suburbs we service, including the City of Casey. See the full list of suburbs we cover, or call 0432 712 248 if your area is not listed. We also handle longer trips, including airport transfers and group travel in a maxi cab when more than one person or a lot of luggage is travelling together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to show proof of my NDIS plan to book?

No. Tell us at booking whether you are self-managed or plan-managed, and who is paying the fare, and we take it from there.

Can my support coordinator or plan manager book on my behalf?

Yes. We regularly take bookings from support coordinators, plan managers, and family members rather than the participant.

Can I set up a regular NDIS transport booking?

Yes. Standing bookings are common for recurring appointments, whether that is therapy, day programs, or medical visits.

What equipment can your vehicles carry?

Manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, and mobility scooters all travel secured inside the vehicle.

Do you also carry passengers who are not NDIS participants?

Yes. NDIS transport is one part of what we do. We also carry aged care clients and anyone who needs a wheelchair accessible vehicle, whether or not it is funded through the NDIS.

NDIS transport for support coordinators

If you coordinate transport for more than one participant, a standing arrangement is usually easier than booking each trip individually. We can hold a small set of regular pickups on file, along with each participant’s equipment and any access notes for their address.

Invoicing can go to a plan manager directly where that has been set up in advance, so participants are not chasing receipts after every trip.
